TODAY, MEET ROBERT HAEUSSLER.......

Today, meet Robert Haeussler......

Today you get me...Bob... Robert Haeussler. Up until now , my unbelievably wonderful wife, Ellen (she is modest, so she will probably now volunteer to put in a few more writings, just so I don't),has been posting images with quotes she gathered from me-"tell me about this painting" and "where was that painting done."

It has been pointed out to me (I'm not mentioning any names, Ellen) that the greatest failing of on-line Artists, Galleries, Classes etc, is that no one ever gets to meet, know or interact with the artist. Part of the joy is the history of a piece... having a feel for who the artist is... why they are drawn to do what they do... how they think ...(also much more impressive to have this knowledge when showing off a purchase to your freinds).

To get to know this artist... this blog... at least my writing... I will have to be informal... the website-formal...(Ellen can write that)... and the on-line store easy to use... with products you like. Your feedback will be very useful here.
Like art, this blog is about sharing experiences with you and, hopefully, your sharing your experience back to me. After all, if I'm painting an old beach cottage... weather beaten... but obviously still in use ...(wish this had spell check), and think I'm sharing the feeling of a summer vacation's freedom... but... you are asking "why is he showing me the depressing, run down shack", I would like to know!!

Share your opinions and information with other artists, artisan's, collectors and people who enjoy art... not just with me. Build your own "artist community" based on your likes. Most artists will love to talk about their work with you. We love to talk about art... especially our own... even though most of us are quite busy.

I spend forty hours per week scheduling surgeons into operating rooms...do most of our shopping and do my best to spoil my wife. Twice a week, I will be writing in this blog .( There! I'm commited... or should be). I'll leave the rest of the writing to Ellen. Although home-bound, she still has her "work = worth" assumption and if I fill the other sites, she will just start more, until she runs out of hours in the day.

Well! That was long-winded for me!

Again... the purpose of a blog, and art, is to share-share an experience... feeling... opinion ...or information. Your art community is waiting. Have fun ...share!!!

PS Jack, in your case I'll just consider the source of the share, and chose to ignore it!

"'RED GINGER" STUDY

'RED GINGER"
No! You are not seeing in triples!"
" These three paintings of the "Red Ginger " were painted at the same time as a learning experience in 1989...They were my first "Keepers".
I drew the same image on 3 papers working from one to the other on whichever one was dry. I would attempt to repeat effects that I liked... change ones that I did not ...and learned to enjoy all of the "happy little accidents" that happened on each of them.
I gave the originals away...to friends ...new and old...who let me stay with them while I re-acquainted myself wth the Mainland . I had spent 20 of the last 22 years in Hawaii.
I still often paint several of one image at the same time...exploring different patterns...colors...seasons...or just experimenting with how to get the effects I am after..."

The challenge of this painting to me was to capture the softness of the blossoms on this Gardenia and not have them appear as if they were made of "porcelain" . Despite the many expressions from others about how beautiful this painting is... I still do not feel that I totally succeeded. Up until now.. only the artist knew this... I share this with you because ... many of my paintings have taken on a life of their own during the process... and it takes days or weeks before I can see the painting as it is instead of how I expected it to be.

"GONE FISHIN'"
"Late Spring/Beginning of Summer...Still takes half the morning to take the chill
out of the air...The pond is too small for motor boats...It's too early for Summer swimmers...
The quiet ... the warming sun...the songbirds...an occasional duck and a pair of nesting geese...
It's a wonderful day...even if you don't catch a thing...when you've

"H.A. Cook Proprietor"

"H.A. Cook Proprietor"
"While walking to the rural, small town Lake Ariel Post Office in Wayne County , Pennsylvania to pick up my mail... the sun was just about burning through the overcast of an early Spring snow.. I was taken by the elaborate "lacework" of icicles hanging off of this tractor as it sat in front of Harold Cook's small Equipment Repair Shop.. If I had not been on foot that day, I would not have seen the patterns of the icicles... only an old tractor covered with snow...."

NESTING HERONS

"Nesting Herons"

"The diversity of life in the band of woods between the Beaver Swamp and
the hayfield kept drawing me back. I was surprised at how early in the
Spring the Great Blue Heron returns to the nest. Can that platform of
sticks really be comfortable? "

COLUMBUS AVENUE SNOW

"COLUMBUS AVENUE SNOW"

"It was an early Saturday morning in the rural countryside area of Wayne County in Northeastern Pennsylvania. I was driving to the village of Hawley to the Gallery to teach my Adult Watercolor Class. It had been snowing overnight.

The snow made Columbus Avenue look pristine. The light that morning on this scene produced a very strong value pattern which I wanted to paint. "
